Aberdeen open top bus tours to launch next weekend

The Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce (AGCC) has announced that an open top bus tour will be debuting on the 18th of April.

The bus service, aptly named the Aberdeen Adventurer has been aimed at showcasing the vibrant culture and art scene along with several of the cities big hitter landmarks like Marischal Square and Fittie.

The announcement shows the efforts being made to bolster Aberdeen’s reputation as a tourist hub whilst continuing to provide new and engaging experiences for current residents. With a busy docket of summer plans ahead for the Granite city, with around 40,000 visitors due to cruise ships and several thousand more during the Tall Ships Races, the AGCC have described it as “the perfect time to launch the Aberdeen Adventurer”.

Ticket holders will also be eligible for discounts with business deciding to partner with the new attraction. City mainstay’s such as BrewDog and Codona’s are slated to be amongst these partners.

However, the announcement has been met with some criticism. Marc Craig, A resident of Aberdeen voiced these criticisms by saying “we really need to try and appeal more to tourists. But at the moment I’d be embarrassed to show them what we have right now. A city that’s restricting buskers and has an inoperable main street? I don’t think it’s what tourists to the city want to see”.

There is palpable excitement amongst residents and tourists alike, with many of the former excited at the prospect of having a wider perspective of Aberdeen on their travels. With many hoping that tourists will be able to see the lesser visited attractions the city has to offer.
